Low Sentence for Defendant for Marijuana Possession – Increasing Understanding of the Medical and Social Context

On February 29, 2024, the District Court for Warsaw-Śródmieście issued a verdict in the case of a client of Arslan Business And Law, who was accused of possessing 35 grams of marijuana in violation of the Drug Prevention Act. Thanks to the efforts of our law firm, a very lenient sentence of 5 months of community service was obtained for him. The case was handled by Attorney Anna Arslan and Trainee Attorney Wiktoria Panek.

"We are increasingly seeing that during the pandemic, people began turning to marijuana as a way to cope with stress. It is also worth noting that more and more doctors are prescribing cannabis as a form of treatment for various ailments. It is important that the courts are increasingly taking these circumstances into account, considering the changing social and medical perspectives on the use of marijuana," says Attorney Anna Arslan, who represented the client in this case.

The decision of the District Court for Warsaw-Śródmieście in the case of a client of Arslan Law Firm is another example of the evolving thinking regarding marijuana use and its legal consequences. At the same time, it highlights the importance of proper legal support and representation, which can significantly impact the final court outcome.
